Simply put, HCD seeks to solve the problems humans experience by designing the solutions around them. Steeped in empathy, HCD is an iterative approach to problem-solving that involves true human perspective at each step of the way.

Lean Methodology
Quality, Safety, Satisfaction, and Morale

Lean methodology teaches us to create value and reduce burdens for patients and employees by focusing on sustaining the highest levels of quality, safety, satisfaction, and morale in healthcare. This is done by testing ideas using prototyping and pivoting when necessary.

Pitching and Storytelling
Quickly Seeing Value

Two-hour presentations have their place in the world, but thankfully it's not within iNET. Leaning into story evokes an emotional response, while a well-structured pitch can have leaders and investors seeing value within minutes.

National Programing

iNET’s national programming encourages employees to explore innovation fundamentals and fire up their creativity. The Ignite series (every spring) and The Incubator series (every fall) offer opportunities for VHA employees to learn about iNET’s human-centered design process, nurture their inherent problem-solving abilities, and network with innovative revolutionaries.
